Using Course Templates

moodleIf you like to present the same course, to different audiences, you might find it useful to create templates. This article describes the process.


Creating a template

Start by logging on to Moodle as an administrator.

  1. Browse to the course that you want to create a template from.
  2. Select the cog (top-right) and then Backup.
  3. Deselect Include enrolled users.
  4. Click Jump to final step.
  5. Click Continue.
  6. Click Manage backup files.
  7. Here you can rename your backup file to MyCourseTemplate.mbz.

It's also a good idea to download this template for safe keeping.

 

Deploying from template

Now you can use this template course to create new courses.

  1. Go to Site administration > Courses > Restore course.
  2. Click the Restore link next to your newly created template.
  3. Click Continue on the summary page.
  4. In the Restore as a new course section, select the category for your new course, and click Continue.
  5. Check the Restore settings and click Next.
  6. Enter the Course name, Course short nameCourse start date and click Next.
  7. Click Perform restore.
  8. Click Continue to view the course.
