Clearing a print job on Windows

windows_XPOccasionally you will find that a print job doesn't delete properly, and you have to get rid of it manually.  Here is the routine...


Stop the print spooler service

  1. Go to Start and right-click My Computer and choose Manage.
  2. In the left pane of the Computer Management console, expand Services and Applications and select Services.
  3. In the main pane, select Print Spooler.
  4. Click Stop the service.

 

Delete the rogue files

  1. In Windows Explorer, browse to C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS.
  2. Delete any files that you find there!

 

Restart the print spooler service

  1. Return to the Computer Management console, expand Services and Applications and select Services.
  2. In the main pane, select Print Spooler.
  3. Click Start the service.
